Doing it for the kids

I was really excited to see an article in the Times Magazine yesterday about the new generation of stay at home mums. In a nutshell it describes a new trend of women who are educated but choose to have children in their early twenties and stay at home looking after them, rather than trying to “have it all”. This is the path I have chosen and have often been made to feel that it is the easy, or lazy option, so it was nice to see my position in a positive light for once. I was also pleased that they chose to style the girls for the shoot in luxurious and fashionable clothes helping to dispel the myth that motherhood into practical fleeces and old jeans.

  1. Snap!! I loved reading this and realising I'm not alone, I am a 24 year old mum with a degree and it was my choice to be a young mum.I often feel looked down upon or judged for my decision to become a mum so early but to be honest it was the best choice I ever made.

People are mistaken to think it is easy, it is the hardest job in the world juggling life and the responsibility of someone else so soon.

I don't want to have it all, I want to have a bit of it all!comprimise!

yay to young mums who take pride in themselves and being a mother!

  2. Same here. I am not as young as the mums in the article, thus I even have the 'career on its height' to throw into the mix. But only because Mr Right was nowhere to be seen 10 years ago...
